A chassid gave a note of request to his Rabbi. He had written to ask G-d's help in breaking his evil impulse. The Rabbi replied: You want to break impulses? You will break your back and your hip, yet you will not break an impulse. But if you pray and learn and work in all seriousness, the evil in your impulses will vanish of itself.
If your enemy (Evil Inclination) is hungry, feed him bread (Torah).
The Evil inclination begins as a guest and proceeds like the host.
Play no favorites: when Joseph got a many-colored coat, his brothers came to hate him.
