There is a true and false humility. The falsely humble believes himself and all others to be unworthy. He is worse than the one who believes himself and all others to be worthy. The truly humble man is he who feels sure of his unworthiness, but knows that everyone else is worthier than he.
It is better to have one bird in a cage than a hundred in the air.
If you don't run so far, the way back will be shorter.
A person should always consider himself to be half wicked and half righteous. If he did one mitzvah, praiseworthy is he, for he tipped himself toward the side of righteousness. If he sinned, woe is to him, for he tipped himself toward the side of guilt.
The world is in serious trouble...
