A chassid gave a note of request to his Rabbi. He had written to ask G-d's help in breaking his evil impulse. The Rabbi replied: You want to break impulses? You will break your back and your hip, yet you will not break an impulse. But if you pray and learn and work in all seriousness, the evil in your impulses will vanish of itself.
The world is like a rotating wheel, with some people ascending and others descending. If poverty does not strike you, it might strike your children or grandchildren. If you are kind to the poor now, you may hope that others will be kind to your children when they are in need.
G-d tests a person in two ways, either through wealth or through poverty.
