A disciple asked the Baal Shem Tov: Why is it that one who clings to G-d and knows he is close to Him, sometimes experiences a sense of distance, and loneliness? The Baal Shem Tov explained: When a father sets out to teach his son to walk, he stands in front of him stretching his two hands to either side of the child, so that ha cannot fall. The boy then proceeds toward his fathers outstretched arms. The moment he is close to him, however, the father moves slightly away, and holds his hands farther apart. He does this over and over again so that the child may learn to walk.

When a person is engaged in studies, he need not fear any darkness, because he carries the lantern within himself.
The creations of artists are kept with great care in museums, yet human beings, the handiwork of the Creator Himself, are often found out amidst dirt.

In your daily occupations, remember this: don't do anything that is forbidden, and even that which is permitted, do without undue haste.
One should not give up on any Jew; for there is bound to be some strand of yiddishkeit that connects even to one who is wicked. If a bucket falls into a deep well, one can still retrieve the bucket from the depths, as long as its connected by a rope. It doesnt matter how thick or thin the rope is: just as long as theres a line of connection.
