There is a true and false humility. The falsely humble believes himself and all others to be unworthy. He is worse than the one who believes himself and all others to be worthy. The truly humble man is he who feels sure of his unworthiness, but knows that everyone else is worthier than he.
R. Nachman (of Breslov) once told me: You have faith, but have no faith in yourself... The main lesson here is that you must have faith in yourself. You must believe you are precious in the G-d's eyes. The fact that every single individual is important to Him is a measure of G-d's goodness.
