One should not give up on any Jew; for there is bound to be some strand of yiddishkeit that connects even to one who is wicked. If a bucket falls into a deep well, one can still retrieve the bucket from the depths, as long as its connected by a rope. It doesnt matter how thick or thin the rope is: just as long as theres a line of connection.
If we could hang all our sorrows on pegs and were allowed to choose those we liked best, every one of us would take back his own, for all the rest would seem even more difficult to bear.
The world is in serious trouble...
